Anti Wrinkle-Botox

Botulinum toxin (BOTOX) injections are the most common aesthetic procedure to improve wrinkles.

Its chief mechanism of action is by inhibition of release of acetylcholine at neuromuscular junctions thereby causing muscle paralysis. Relaxation of muscles reduces the wrinkles and gives youthful appearance

Indications

  1. Forehead lines.
  2. Glabellar or frown lines.
  3. Bunny lines or Nasal scrunch lines.
  4. Gummy smile.
  5. Neck.
  6. Crows feet.

Procedure:

  1. Vacuum dried vial of botulinum toxin is stored between 2 – 8℃, before use it is reconstituted with normal saline 2.5 mL per 100 units.
  2. Based on the indication the number of units of botulinum toxin required are determined, topical anesthesia is applied and the toxin is injected in to the target muscle.
  3. Onset of action starts after 12-72 hours and last for 4-6 months.
